As part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025), and in line with UNESCO’s commitment to advancing gender equality and scientific inclusion, this initiative offers a unique learning and mentorship opportunity for young African women in STEM. Led by Dr. Maria Longobardi and Dr. James Wootton, the programme combines open-access learning with a selective, three-month mentorship and live training component.

Participants will explore the fundamentals of quantum computing through a structured online course based on the open-source textbook Learn Quantum Computation using Qiskit. While the course is freely accessible to all learners, a dedicated mentorship opportunity will be offered to up to 50 selected female PhD students in STEM fields from across Africa, with personalized support from international experts.

The deadline for application is 31 August 2025. Candidates will be selected based on their CV and a short motivation letter, with priority given to those who would most benefit from foundational quantum training.
