The International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) invites expressions of interest for special project funding focused on Latin America and the Caribbean. The purpose of this EOI stage is to identify promising project ideas that may be invited to submit a full proposal.
Applicants are asked to provide concise information on the proposed project, including its scientific rationale, objectives, methodology, timeline, funding request, partnerships, capacity-building activities, and relevance to the Sustainable Development Goals and UNESCO/IUGS priorities.
IGCP funding may be requested up to a maximum of US$50,000 per year for projects of up to three years, subject to ranking, availability of funds, and successful delivery.
This Expression of Interest is the first stage of the application process. Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Expressions of Interest must be submitted through this online form. Submissions sent by email will not be considered.

- Public launch of the call: 1 June 2026
- Expression of Interest phase: 1 June–13 July 2026
- Council/IUGS review of Expressions of Interest: 15 July–15 August 2026
- Invitation to selected applicants to submit full proposals: from 15 August 2026
- Full proposal submission period: 15 August–30 September 2026
- Full proposal review and final decision: October 2026
- Announcement of selected projects: November 2026
- Project start and funding: December 2026
